Job Description

Coastal Welding Supply / AWG has an IMMEDIATE opening for a Distribution Manager at our facility in Beaumont, TX.

Position Summary:

The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day distribution of products to our customers and branches, the safety of employees, and overseeing the training/development of new material handlers and drivers.

Distribution Manager Duties:

  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and meet regularly with employees to reinforce a safe working environment.
  • Manage the distribution of gas cylinder products and hard goods, including the order preparation for cylinder gases.
  • Ensure all drivers are trained on the company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure all work performed is done safely and correctly.
  • Lead and work closely with the Dock Supervisor to ensure all Material Handlers are properly trained on all SOPs, operating safely, efficiently, and pulling orders correctly.
  • Planning in advance for the coming week's deliveries and changes to schedules.
  • Monitor DOT-regulated activity on a daily basis, including hours of service, vehicle permitting/paperwork, and vehicle condition.
  • Review logs and any other daily required paperwork for accuracy.
  • Asset reconciliation to ensure all assets are properly accounted for, including electronic tracking of cylinder gases (ACM).
  • Timely processing of incoming and outgoing invoices.
  • Ensure vehicles are compliant and in working order.
  • Complete paperwork related to distribution activities.
  • Complete all required training.
  • Review applications of potential new hire candidates and conduct interviews with said candidates when openings occur.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Distribution Manager Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Gas distribution experience in the industry, or relevant related distribution experience.
  • Significant experience in product dispatch and distribution that must include experience working with commercially licensed drivers and equipment.
  • Experience with hazardous materials preferred.
  • Clean driving record required.
  • Strong computer skills including the use of email, Excel, Outlook, and internet browsers.
  • Ability to read and interpret gauges.
  • Able to lift up to 75 pounds occasionally.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to perform basic math and compute rates, ratios, and percentages.
  • Able to read and write English.
